Technical Climbing

New Mexico Mountain Club’s Technical Rock Climbing Section sponsors numerous multi-pitch climbs and toprope outings throughout the year, and conducts a basic technical rock climbing school in the spring for potential new enthusiasts to the sport.

After completing the school, many students continue climbing with the NMMC and eventually gain the skills to become climb leaders.

To view our technical rock climbing policies and climber rating system, please go to the Climbing Policies page.

If you wish to join the Climb Section, or have any questions about our policies, the climb school, or participating in a club climb, please contact the Climb Chair or Co-Chair at

Application forms and Climb Section waivers may be obtained from the Climb Chair or downloaded from the Forms and Waivers page. In addition to general club dues, new and returning Climb Section members must pay an annual $20 equipment fee.

Members only: To schedule a climb, sign up for a climb, submit a trip report, or to view a detailed calendar of scheduled climbs, go to to our meetup page
