Our 2023 Shirt Features Shiprock, NM!
For our inaugural shirt, we’re featuring the easily recognizable Shiprock formation, whose peak is prominently featured at the center of the NM Mountain Club logo.

Designed by Zak Rutledge, a talented designer/illustrator based in Albuquerque, our 2023 t-shirt proudly highlights Shiprock, New Mexico. The iconic Shiprock formation rises 1,583ft above the Navajo Nation in the northwestern corner of our state. Known as Tsé Bitʼaʼí in Navajo (meaning "rock with wings"), this peak holds deep significance in Navajo culture and stories. Though hiking and climbing are no longer permitted at Shiprock, the formation’s striking presence on the landscape commands the attention of all who drive past and it’s easily one of the most recognizable landscapes in New Mexico. It was formed roughly 30 million years ago and is the exposed neck of an ancient volcano.
